Our Women on the Ground ed. by Zahra Hankir

In 2021 I read a collection of essays called Our Women on the Ground: Essays by Arab Women Reporting from the Arab World, edited by Zahra Hankir. I wrote a review of it for Pink Jinn which you can read here.

I realised how much of my own understanding of the Middle East had been informed by Western journalists.

Our Women on the Ground will cause you to question the news you read, who is presenting it, and the language used to talk about the region. I recommend reading the review on Pink Jinn to gain a deeper insight into this collection and why it is incredibly important.
